Dear praying friends.....
"Through each day the LORD pours His unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God Who gives me LIFE." Ps. 42:8 (NLT)
As I sit here to write, it is now 2:30AM Tuesday morning. Kari and I have just gotten back from the hospital. Around 9:30PM Monday Paul began to experience some really bad 'burning' sensation right down the newly-made incision from his open heart surgery. Within the next 5 min. the pain increased to the point that we decided he needed to go to the ER. Our (Kari's and my) thought was to take him back to St. Joseph's which was about a 40 min. (maybe 35 min with Kari driving) ride. Joel helped get Paul down the stairs and through the front door where Kari was waiting in the car. As we got to the top of our little hill, the pain was increasing and we made a split second decision to take Paul to Upper Chesapeake rather than try to drive him down to St. Joseph's. Both Kari and I were feeling a sense of 'urgency' and we got him to the hospital in around 10 min. where they rushed him in immediately and after a lot of difficulty drawing blood and getting the proper 'hookups' into his arm, it was established that he was having another heart attack. The Drs. called in the 'catherization team' and within about 20 min. after that call was made, they took Paul down to the catherization lab. That 30+ minutes was the longest wait---just not knowing what was going on. When the Dr. came out, he explained that there was a blockage in one of the NEW bypasses and that they had to put 2 stints end to end into his OWN artery to open everything up. Providentially, the Dr. who was on-call at Upper Chesapeake TONIGHT was a Dr. who usually was at St. Joseph's!!!...... but tonight he was divinely placed in that hospital just for Paul!!! SO......Paul is resting much much much more comfortably in the ICU. The 2 stints that were put in should take care of this blockage. He'll be in the hospital a couple of days until he is stable.
Can I simply say that we are praising our Father for His goodness and mercy once again......with grateful hearts that HE has again spared Paul's life!! Words cannot express our gratitude to our loving Father......and we are so thankful to each of you who will read this in a few short hours and who will once again be praying for Paul and for each of us.
learning to rest with each of you......
with our love,
Paul, Linda, and 'gang'
