'Twas The Night Before Jesus Came - Truly the meaning of Christmas put into perspective.....it's not to late to invite a friend to come unto HIM!!!!

'Twas The Night Before Jesus Came
Written by Dianne Frances Donenfeld in 1988.

'Twas the night before Jesus came
And all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care,
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap,
Was watching The Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray,
I knew in a moment that this must be The Day.

The light of His face made me cover my head;
It was Jesus!  Returning just like he said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name,
When He said "It's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call,
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

FW: ARLINGTON at Christmas

Arlington at Christmas

I thought you might want to see this. Why isn't this in the press or on the evening news?

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.

Know the line has held, your job is done..

Rest easy, sleep well.

Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.

Peace, peace, and farewell...

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. Of Harrington , Maine . The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

Please share this with everyone on your address list. You hear too much about the bad things people do.

Everyone should hear about this.

WOW ministry update...

The snow removal arm of the WOW ministry leaped into action this afternoon.  Jack Taft, Don Burk, Gary & Matt Settle, Tom & Andy Webb, Jason Eyler, Buck Herhei, and I & II Timothy jumped on the shoveling, plowing, and “recovery” efforts.  Through some difficulty and inexperience driving (on my part), we were able to assist many of our shut in folks in getting things cleared after the snow.  I want to personal thank these men (and young gentlemen) for their work in this cold weather.  A true servant’s heart embodied in human form…..what better way to show Christ our Lord in this season of celebration.  I am humbled to know and serve with men of this caliber and count it a blessing from God to grow in Christ through their servant example.  May we all  know the true meaning of Jesus birth, His life in us through the local body, and spread the news through selfless acts of kindness by the Holy Spirit during this season………..Merry Christmas.

Plan on being at the Chapel on Christmas Eve for a jam packed celebration of Christ birth through song, worship, and praise!  See you there!

No Services tomorrow but help needed.....

Good afternoon Chapel Family!

I trust the Lord is keeping you safe and warm this day?  We are preemptively calling off all services for tomorrow, Dec. 20th due to the serious weather event continuing through this evening into tomorrow morning.  The Deacon and Elder, “W.O.W” Ministry (Widows, Orphans & Weak) will be rolling into action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm.  We are asking any able-bodied individuals to assemble at the Chapel to clear the walkways and steps in preparation for upcoming events later this week.  Once completed, we will be mobilizing to visit some of the shut-ins, widows, orphans, and those in need of assistance to clear their walks, check in on them, and clean their driveways.  As this will be a daunting task for 2-3, the more hands helping, the easier and quicker the work.  This new WOW ministry was scheduled to roll out in 2010 but the Lord has provided an opportunity to advance the agenda a bit!  Thank you in advance for your participation.  If you are in need of assistance from the WOW Ministry, tomorrow or thereafter, please contact any deacon, elder, or email/call the Chapel office.

God bless and we will see you soon!

FC Rider's Ministry is an outreach to the motorcycle enthusiast, their friends, and families.  We hold biker events, shows, meals, and cruises throughout the year to celebrate Christ's message to all people in a casual, friendly setting.  Above all, this ministry establishes an open door for those in the biker community who can hear the word of Christ and His message of salvation in a non-traditional setting.
FC Rider events in 2009 included cruises to Thurmont, Lancaster, Chesapeake City, and points beyond.

Just a quick reminder of the Ladies’ Fundraiser this weekend … a flyer is uploaded on the Chapel webpage.  Also, check out the new FC Riders page that we’re developing to share our message in this NEW ministry!

Remember, your donations are needed and come back to NAME YOUR PRICE on Saturday Morning!!!

Icy parking lot today

The parking lot at the Chapel has iced up after the banquet last evening and is quite treacherous.  The steps and ramp are clear but parking may be difficult.  We are not cancelling the service at this time but use your best judgment if attending.  As temperatures rise this morning, we should see significant melting by the end of the Worship service.  However, please be aware of the icy condition.

God Bless.
