TGIM! GOOD NEWS

GOOD NEWS FOR YOUR WEEK

TGIM - Thank God It’s Monday!

THE WORD IS:
Give us this day our daily bread.  Matthew 6:11

THE POINT IS:  We humans are needy people.  One of our most basic needs is daily bread—physical nourishment to sustain us.  This verse indicates that we should look to God to supply these needs.  However, we must not stop there.  Our physical needs, as great as they may be, are the lesser of the greater.  The Lord Jesus Christ declared Himself to be the “bread of life” (John 6:48).  He alone can meet our spiritual needs and provide us with eternal life.  He is the Source of all things.  Everything comes from Him and is available through Him.  All of our needs are met in Him: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  He is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

THE APPLICATION IS:  God graciously endowed you with all the talent, strength and ability to function on planet Earth.  Furthermore, He created all the natural resources necessary to get the job done.  He delights in giving good gifts to those who ask Him.  So ask and you shall receive.  He will provide you with all that is necessary to accomplish whatever He deems appropriate.  When Jesus told us to pray for today’s bread, He was instructing us to live in the moment.  This requires a day by day, moment by moment, reliance on Him.  Thus, you should live with an attitude of constant, fixed dependency upon God.  Just as God provided manna each day to feed the Israelites on their journey through the wilderness, so He will provide what you need for your journey through life.  Therefore, you should trust God specifically and explicitly for all things great and small!

Have a great week,
